Club News Archive 3
August 31, 2019: Our District 58 leaders have just notified us that, due to a clarification of their understanding of the rules from Toastmasters International, there will be ONLY Table Topics Contests at the Area and Division Level. There will NOT be a Tall Tales Contest at the Area or Division Level. The rules stipulate that no speech contests may be held above the club level unless those contests progress all the way to the district level. Therefore, the Table Topics Contests will progress from area to division in the Fall and then to the district level at the Annual District Conference (May 15-17, 2020).
August 26, 2019: 6 members competed in our speech contests tonight - 5 competed in the Table Topics Contest and 4 competed in the Tall tales Contest.
TABLE TOPICS CONTEST: 1st place - Burnnie Holliday; 2nd place - Christina Jeffrey; 3rd place - John Abercrombie
TALL TALES CONTEST: 1st place - Jonathan Lyon; 2nd place - Brad Wright; 3rd place - John Abercrombie

Congratulations to Maria Austin, ALS, ACG. She has earned both her Advanced Leader Silver (ALS) and Advanced Communicator Gold (ACG) awards this month. As she nears the completion of the Legacy Education Path, Maria will be launching into Pathways with the rest of us. Those two awards also make Spartanburg Toastmasters a PRESIDENT'S DISTINGUISHED CLUB for 2018-2019. Looking to repeat that for 2019-2020. Let's all reach our individual goals, fellow Toastmasters, and it will happen!!
June 13, 2019: From: Toastmasters International | Dear Toastmaster Holliday, You've sponsored five or more new members during this year's membership-building program. For taking the initiative and helping our organization grow, you will receive a five member sponsor pin in the mail. Wear this pin proudly and show it to other members of your club to challenge and encourage them to match your achievement.

June 11, 2019: Congratulations to Josh Reeves on completing LEVEL 1 of the Strategic Relationships Path. He earns an education award for that and, as the 4th Spartanburg Toastmasters member to get this award, it brings the club's total DCP goals to 8. We are on track to complete one more goal and then we will be PRESIDENT'S DISTINGUISHED for 2018-2019. So proud of all our club members who are actively achieving their personal goals!!
